Planning and Environment

This pathway offers excellent research training and PhD opportunities in planning and environment at both the Universities of Liverpool and Manchester. The two universities have a strong track record of collaborative working in these areas and strengthened forms of collaborative working for PhD student have emerged as a result of the DTC. The pathway offers exciting opportunities for shared supervision, specialist research training and opportunities for working jointly with other students across the two institutions.

Liverpool and Manchester universities share strong expertise in the fields of spatial planning and environmental management. Liverpool in addition has a particular expertise in maritime environments and planning, whilst through the combination of staff in planning and architecture Manchester offers particular strengths in urban design and climate change.
